Husqvarna Wins this Year’s Mayor’s International Community
Award
Husqvarna honored for community service
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – May 16, 2011 - Husqvarna has received this year’s Mayor’s International Community Awards, in
the large company category. Husqvarna was honored for their
community service and volunteerism in the Charlotte
market.
The
annual MICA Awards event recognizes the many contributions of the
international community in the Charlotte-region. The Mayor’s
International Community Awards were established 14 years ago as a
way to encourage foreign-owned firms to adopt corporate
philanthropy as a business practice and to engage locally by giving
back to the Charlotte community. The MICA awards are coordinated by
the Charlotte International Cabinet in conjunction with the Office
of the Mayor.
Husqvarna was in the running
for the award with notable global organizations including
Ingersoll-Rand, an Irish based company and Siemens Energy, a German
based company. Husqvarna’s commitment to the community and
volunteerism efforts with groups like Habitat for Humanity,
Salvation Army, Hinds feet Farm and the local food banks set the
company apart. John Marchionda, Vice President of Marketing for
Husqvarna says, “to have the company’s volunteer efforts recognized
within our community and amongst other internationally owned
companies is quite an honor. We volunteer our time and
resources because it’s the right thing to do.”
